Whether you suffer from hair growth conditions like
hypertrichosis or hirsutism, or your hair is growing in places
where you would rather it not, there are an endless number of
hair removal selections that meet your needs. There are
essentially two types of hair removal processes.
'Permament' procedures aim to do away with unwanted hair
permanently. Sometimes these methods are only semi-permanent
and have to be repeated over a period of time. Temporary
hair removal
techniques are effective for a week or two and are
contingent on the body's normal hair growth cycle.
Many females treat hair removal as a. Women
shave their armpits and legs, tweezer their eyebrows, and
have pubic hair trimmed or removed to accommodate today's
styles. Men on occasion also shave their body hair for
cosmetic reasons, and almost all males shave their beards
unless they are purposely growing a beard, goatee, or
moustache. Then there are medical reasons for removing
hair and the not uncommon 'because' reasons also.
Electrolysis has been a very popular method and treats each
hair follicle on an individual basis by introducing a needle
into the hair follicle and administering an electric charge.
This procedure can require multiple treatments dependent upon
the condition and size of the area being treated. This process
can be very uncomfortable, and side effects can include
infection and scarring occasionally. Expenses can be as high as
$1,000 to $3,000 for the legs or pubic area.
Laser hair removal is an FDA approved process that is best
performed by a highly trained and certified medical
professional. During this procedure, a focused laser beam is
utilized to destroy the hair follicles. This is a relatively
painless procedure that has the best results on persons with
fair skin and a dark colored hair. People with a deep tan
should not consider this procedure. Cost of the procedure runs
around $1,000 for the removal of facial hair, and a range from
$2,000 to $3,000 for hair removal from the pubic area or
legs.
Similar to LASER treatment, this FDA approved Pulsed Laser
process uses a pulsed light beam to kill the follicles of the
hair. This newer procedure is highly effective for getting rid
of hair from the underarms and the groin or bikini area. The
benefit of this method is that there are no restrictions
regarding skin tone, tanning, or hair color. Costs range from
$500 to $2,000 and up, dependent upon the area of the body
treated.
Non permanent hair removal methods include a wide variety of
hair removal creams, shaving, tweezing, waxing, and more
unorthodox routines. What a contrast of purpose. While it seems
like half the adults are spending billions of dollars to
nurture new hair, make it soft and managable, or have it cut
just perfect, the rest of us are sending our dollars attempting
to get rid of it!

making fun of my hair and so I cut it off and
I've got much more attention than ever
before. It was like when Mona Lisa was stolen
from the Louvre in 1906 - three times more
people came to see where it used to
be.' Emo Philips ( - ____) US
