Hair
Sometimes hair removal methods are only semi-permanent
and need to be repeated every so often. Non permanent hair
removal methods work for for a short period of time and are
subject to the body's normal rate of hair growth.
Many modern women approach hair removal as
a. Females shave their legs and armpits, shape their
eyebrows, and have their pubic hairs groomed or taken off
to accommodate today's fashions. Some men also shave
certain body areas for cosmetic puposes, and nearly all
adult and adolescent males shave their faces unless they
are by choice growing it out as a beard, goatee, or
moustache. Then there are medical reasons for getting rid
of hair and sometimes hard to understand 'cuz I felt like
it' reasons too.
Electrolysis treats every hair follicle individually by
injecting a needle into the hair follicle and subjecting it to
an electric charge. This exercise can require multiple
appointments depending upon the size of the area where
treatments are being applied. These treatments can be somewhat
painful, and there can be side effects that can include the
possibility of scaring and infection. Costs can run as high as
$1,000 to $3,000 for the legs or pubic area.
Laser removal of unwanted hair is an FDA approved procedure
that is best performed by a highly trained and certified
professional. Though this process is somewhat complex
essentially, a focused laser beam is employed to kill the hair
follicles. The treatment is a relatively painless procedure
that has the best results on those with a fair complexion and a
dark colored hair. It is not recommended if you are deeply
tanned. Expect an outlay of about $1,000 for the removal of
facial hair, and from $2,000 to $3,000 for hair removal from
the pubic area or legs.
A more advanced laser treatment, this FDA approved Pulsed
Laser treatment employs a pulsed light beam to get rid of the
follicles of the hair. This process is extremely effective for
getting rid of hair from the more sensitive underarms and the
groin or bikini area. The benefit of this method is that there
are no restrictions regarding skin color, tanning, or hair
color. Costs run from $500 to $2,000 and up, depending upon the
treatment area.
Temporary hair removal practices include a multitude of hair
removal creams, shaving, pulling, waxing, and more irregular
processes. What a unique contradiction. While it seems like
half the adults are committing billions of dollars to grow new
hair, make it shiny and soft, or have it cut that special way,
the rest of us are laying out our hard earned cash seeking to
get rid of it!
