How
Effective is
Laser
Removal of
Facial
Hair?
Whether you suffer from hair growth conditions like
hypertrichosis or hirsutism, or your hair is growing in
locations where it should not, there are a number of effective
hair removal alternatives that meet your needs. There are for
all intents and purposes two types of hair removal
procedures.
I. 'Permament' routines seek to remove unwanted hair
so that it will not regrow. Sometimes these methods are only
semi-permanent and require the process to be repeated over a
period of time.
II. Temporary hair removal techniques work for for a
limited time and are subject to the body's metabolic rate and
resulting hair growth rate.
Many females handle hair removal as a
normal part of their cosmetic reimen. They shave their
underarms and legs, shape their eyebrows, and have their
pubic hairs groomed or taken off to take advantage of
today's fashion styles. Some men also shave some areas for
cosmetic puposes, and most adult and adolescent males
shave their faces unless they are deliberately growing a
beard, goatee, or moustache. And do not forget that there
are medical reasons for removing hair and the not uncommon
'i just wanted to' reasons as well.
Electrolysis is a standard treatment that treats each hair
follicle separately by inserting a needle into the hair
follicle and applying an electric charge. This process can
require multiple treatments based upon the dimension of the
area undergoing treatment. This procedure can be painful, and
side effects can include infection and scarring occasionally.
Expenses can be as high as $1,000 to $3,000 for the pubic area
or legs.
Laser removal of
unwanted hair is an FDA approved process which should only be
performed by a licensed and trained professional. Though this
process is somewhat complex essentially, a small laser beam is
used to kill the hair follicles. The treatment is a relatively
painless procedure that has the best results on patients who
have light colored skin and a dark colored hair. Deeply tanned
individuals should not use this treatment. Expect an outlay of
about $1,000 for the removal of hair around the face area, and
a range from $2,000 to $3,000 for removal of unwanted hair from
the legs and pubic area.
A more advanced laser treatment, this FDA approved Pulsed
Laser process employs a pulsed light beam to kill the hair
follicles. This method is especially effective for getting rid
of hair from the underarms and the bikini area. There are no
restrictions regarding skin fairness, tanning, or color of
hair. Outlays for this procedure are from $500 to $2,000 and
up, dependent upon the treatment area.
Temporary hair removal methods
include a multitude of hair removal creams, shaving, plucking,
waxing, and more exotic processes. What a contrast of purpose.
While millions of balding and hair thinning people are spending
billions of dollars to nurture new hair, make it shiny and
healthy, or have it cut just right, the remainder of us are
spending our dollars attempting to get rid of it!
