Men's
Facial
Hair -
Permanent Removal
There are essentially two types of hair
removal processes. Permament hair removal aims to eliminate
unwanted hair permanently. Sometimes these methods can be
semi-permanent and need to be repeated over a period of time.
Temporary hair removal techniques provide results for short
periods of time and are subject to the body's normal hair
growth cycle.
Many modern women deal with hair removal as
part of their normal cosmetic routine. Women shave their
legs and armpits, tweezer their eyebrows, and have pubic
hair trimmed or taken off to accommodate today's fashions.
Some men also shave their body hair for cosmetic reasons,
and most males shave their facial hair unless they are
deliberately growing it out as a beard, goatee, or
moustache. And do not forget that there are medical
reasons for eliminating hair and the not uncommon
'because' reasons too.
Electrolysis treats every hair follicle one by one by
injecting a needle into the follicle of the hair and subjecting
it to an electric charge. This exercise can spread over months
depending upon the location and size of the area where
treatments are being applied, like facial hair removal. This is a
relatively painful process, and side effects can include
scaring and infection. Expenditures for this treatment can be
as high as $1,000 to $3,000 for the legs or pubic area.
Laser hair removal is an FDA approved treatment that is best
performed by a certified and licensed professional. Though this
process is somewhat complex essentially, a focused laser beam
is utilized to get rid of the hair follicles. This is a
relatively painless procedure which works best on people who
have a fair complexion and dark hair. Deeply tanned individuals
should not use this treatment. Costs run around $1,000 for the
removal of facial hair, and from $2,000 to $3,000 for removal
of unwanted hair from the legs and pubic area.
A more advanced laser
treatment, this FDA approved Pulsed Laser treatment
utilizes a pulsed light beam to eradicate the hair follicles.
This process is extremely effective for eliminating hair from
the sensitive armpit and the groin or bikini area. The benefit
of this method is that there are no restrictions regarding skin
fairness, tanning, or color of hair. Costs range from $500 to
$2,000 and up, depending upon the area of the body treated.
Non permanent hair removal methods include a wide variety of
hair removal creams, shaving, tweezing, waxing, and more unique
procedures. What a dichotomy. While millions of people are
spending billions of dollars to nurture new hair, make it soft
and managable, or have it cut that special way, the rest of us
are spending our hard earned cash trying to get rid of it!
